Speedball is a much quicker paced game than
Woodsball. It is usually played in 10-20 minutes and the action is almost
non-stop because the playing field is smaller. The most common game played is called Center flag because there is only one flag and it is placed in the center of the field. Both teams try to reach the flag and bring it to their opponents starting position without being eliminated. Again, if eliminated while holding the flag, drop it where you were shot and exit the field. The field itself is approximately 150 feet wide and 300 feet long. The bunkers should be mirror images of each other on both sides so there is no unfair advantage to either team. Teams start on opposite sides and when the whistle is blown, they each try to reach the flag. The game is finished when the time is over or total elimination of a team is reached. It is a draw if neither team placed the flag and the time expired. Scoring can be done using the NPPL rules. http://www.paintballrefs.com/nppl_rules_2002.html When playing Speedball, keep in mind that it is a very fast paced game and you must keep moving. Move smart, ensure that your steps are planned out in such a way that every advance you make is toward a goal. Whether that is the flag or an opponent you have your eye on. And just remember, in the very first game of Paintball ever played, the person who captured the flag, never fired a single shot! Attack and Defend is a game where one team defends the flag and must stay within designated boundaries around the flag station. Crossing those boundaries eliminates that particular player. The second team is the attacker and tries to capture the flag without being marked by a paintball. The game is played with a 10-15 minute time limit and if the attackers have the flag in their possession, they win. The defenders win if all the attackers have been eliminated without capturing the flag. A draw is called if a winner cannot be clearly determined. Blackjack is another form of Speedball. Each player is only allowed 21 paintballs and when your balls are used up, you're out. With this game, make sure that every shot counts! Classic game rules apply. Classic Game is the 'standard' by which all other games seem to be measured. When it is said 'Classic Rules Apply', these are the rules they are referring to. There are two teams with an equal number of players on each team. The teams should have the same amount of experience just to make the game even. You can have more than two teams but the standard is two. The games are played with a 15-25 minute predetermined time limit depending on the size of the field. It doesn't matter how the field is set up and which bunkers are used. The objective of the game is to defend your flag while trying to capture your opponent's flag without being eliminated. When a player is marked, they must leave the field until the next game starts. It is also possible to get a player to surrender without shooting if you are within five feet of them. If they decide not to, you may shoot them. A player who has been eliminated cannot talk to their teammates. Five points are awarded to the team who captures their opponent's flag and hangs it at their own station. One point is given for each player eliminated on the opposition's team. If time is up and no one has captured the flag, the game is a draw unless you are playing at a field where points are tracked. Not all fields keep track of points scored. Sup Air or Airball are part and parcel of Speedball. It uses inflatable bunkers instead of the trees, bushes and rocks in Woodsball or the plastic sewer pipes and drains in Hyperball. Recreational Paintball a.k.a. Rec-ball is the all-encompassing term for any paintball game that is purely for enjoyment, not money or prizes. Tournament play can be any type of paintball game but the outcome of a match will result in cash or prizes for the winning team. Hyperball is the same concept as Speedball. The only difference being that Hyperball uses big plastic sewage drains and pipes instead of the air filled bunkers of Speedball. |
